Our Analysis & Ratings

The big thing the Oztrail 10P Block Out has going for it is its size. With three rooms, the family or two couples have separate wings and a communal area. The quality of the materials used is not as good as some of the more expensive options.

Comfort - A large tent with two separate bedrooms and a communal space in between, this tent has a great layout. We found the bedrooms to be a little small, but with the three-room layout we understand why. Obviously the Block Out feature is great for making for a dark night’s sleep – we just prefer to have our tent a little lighter during the day (especially when you get stuck in the rain).

Construction - Mid range polyester materials and a thin gauge steel frame. For the price it has the basics but is not in the same class as some of the more expensive options. Zippers and seams are well-made enough.

Features - Easy setup, good ventilation and a few different configuration options. Has all the basic interior features we’d look for in a family tent.

Size/ Weight - Sleeping size of 8.6sqm, weight of 33kg and head height of 195cm. While the official sleeping size is only 8.6sqm, you could sleep more people in the middle room if they didn’t mind people walking through their space. We fit three queen or six single air beds with a bit of room to move.

Versatility - Fairly easy setup for a large camping tent, we’d take it camping rather than touring.

Overall – A good XL sized budget tent option.
